Topping off the HED Jet FR line of wheels is the Jet 9 FR. A 90mm deep aero section combined with a 23mm C2 rim and SCT shaping. Deep wheels are generally easy to make aerodynamic, but with poor shaping they are nearly impossible to handle in the crosswinds. Hed's proprietary stability control technology ensures the Jet 9 will ride as stable as any low profile wheel.
Since the introduction of the C2 platform in 2008, Hed has experienced a dramatic improvement over previous designs: aero drag was reduced substantially and the use of wider tires dramatically improved cornering. Stability Control Technology (SCT) is Hed's proprietary rim profile tuning process. Each rim depth is shaped for lowest aero drag and fine-tuned to maximize stability in crosswinds.
The aero section of the Jet 9 FR wheels is molded from a stiffer and lighter 1K fabric (saving 54g per rim).
Flamme Rouge Sonic hubs are built to the same exacting tolerances as regular sonics, but reduce weight with a carbon hub shell and forged titanium ratchet ring.
Abec5 bearings are used for durability and low rolling resistance. Ti skewers are lighter than stock steel.
The Scandium alloyed rums on the FR wheels are lighter, strong, and stiffer than unalloyed models.
