Disclaimer: I did not buy this suit for water polo. There are some reviewers that go on about poor reviews made by people not buying it for its intended purpose. I bought this suit for its really cool graphic and for its coverage on my back (I'll be swimming outside and didn't want crazy strap marks across my back).
I am a lap swimmer and just wore this suit last night after an hour swim workout. The seams are a little rough around the crotch and neck but not really a problem. I'm used to soft lycra suits so anything polyester will be rough. You can feel the zipper rubbing the back of your neck if your head is up like taking a breath for breaststroke but OK for other strokes where your head is neutral.
The fit:
I wear a 8 / 34 in Speedo lycra suits. In my regular clothes, I wear a size 0 or XS. I ordered a *medium* in this suit and it was the right size. I'm Chinese and have kind of a small and flattish bum so I didn't quite fill out the suit in the rear. Never a problem in the lycra suits because they stretch. So when I'm swimming in this suit it pulls up in the middle giving me a bit of a wedgie. The legs are cut high (traditional in water polo suits so I've read) so bum coverage is already slim. I had my girlfriend swim behind me to check out if it looks indecent and she says it looks fine. The fabric just doesn't stretch out wide enough to cover my bum the way it should so it bunches in the middle of my tailbone when I swim. So someone watching me above from the deck will see more cheek than a regular suit. However it does fully cover the crotch so anyone swimming behind me won't notice anything different with this suit.
Getting into the suit:
You need extreme shoulder flexibility and a little patience to get into this suit by yourself. I like to put on my suit at home before going to the pool so I don't have anyone to help me. You need both hands around your back to close the zipper. One hand needs to squeeze the fabric close together just above the zipper and the other zips it up an inch. Repeat. There is no give in this suit around or crossways so it is tight around your abdomen. If you can get it up to the bottom of your shoulder blades you're home free--almost. At your shoulder blades you have to push the zipper as high as you can with the tips of your fingers then you have to reach up and back to try to zip it up to your neck. Very difficult. I will be putting on a zipper string to help with this last part.
In conclusion:
I like this suit. I really like the graphic and I wanted something with a solid back so I didn't get strappy tan lines. I can manage getting into the suit and I'm OK with the wedgie now that my girlfriend has confirmed that it looks OK from behind.
