We got this to "assist" our son with swimming while on vacation. He has been taking lessons and we wanted him to feel more comfortable in the water without having to hold him the entire time. This helped my husband and I be more comfortable with our son jumping in the pool and it made it easier for us to "let go." Added bonus was that everyone has to comment on the little "shark." The dolphin fin is mistaken for a shark!

Although we like (and grandson likes), the first time we used it we were approached by life guards who informed us that we could not use it since it was not certified by coast guard. Were told that this certification is standard for life vests. Unfortunately now this can only be used as a decoration UNLESS you have proof it is certified by coast guard. Our rating of 2 is due specifically to this lack of certification.
