After ordering multiple styles and sizes, I finally found the perfect board shorts for my teenage boys in this style. I bought both the gray/pink and the black/green plaid versions. The outer seam is longer on this style (I think 22" on the smaller sizes), longer and more the "look" they want. One son is 6' and wears size 33 waist, the other son is 5'9" and wears size 31. On each of them, the shorts fall just at the knee. Well made and the non-velcro fly is a plus as well.
