I used these in the ocean for a week and they worked great. I've never used trunks before. I've always used swim shorts with a net lining so I was a little nervous before using these, but I figure a full week is a good test run. I didn't have any "genital rubbing" problems. they have a drawstring so you can tighten the waist a little tiny bit. when I looked at the picture I thought the print design on the sides looked like steel plate (kind of like the real iron man costume from the movie), but the design is their logo (the circle above the M), but they still looked cool. but I wish I would have got the blue/black color.
