This thing is BIG but it rolls up smaller than a beach towel, is cheaper than a beach towel, and is lighter in my back-pack than a beach towel.  I'm sure it wouldn't handle rough use, but for a cool place to park your booty on hot sand it works well.  It will fly away in the wind, though.

The mats are great, convenient and a good size.  On the downside:  one of them has started to  separate from the cloth edging, probably  were the stitching  is too close to the edge of the binding.  Otherwise, a good product.

I had been looking for these for a while now. Can't find them in shops. These mats are SO much better than beach towels or picnic blankets because the sand doesn't stick to them, and if the grass is wet, they don't soak it up. Love it.
