When I initially got it, it was a rough material, but it softens up more as you wash it. It's great, though! I'm a swimmer and this is perfect pride.

I bought two pillowcases for my daughter from this same brand. The other one was the smiley face case. For some reason, the fabric on this pillowcase is not nearly as soft and smooth as the other one. I'm hoping it softens after a few washes. It is very cute though.
