A recommended stroke correction paddle. I use these to "unlearn" my bad habits in my freestyle recovery. Great product, a definite must-have.
These paddles do what they're intended. I was using the Speedo rectangular shaped Red model before, which were pretty good. But these Finis paddles seem to help with my hand and arm position. I felt instant feedback and pay more attention to the entire stroke. I really like them - Highly recommended.
I have been swimming for a few months to train for a triathlon. Use these for my sets at the end of my workout. These have really helped build up my swimming muscles and clean up my stroke. You can definitely notice the paddles catching when your stroke if off.
I was struggling with hand placement and follow through for a long time. My coach suggested these hand paddles and they have made a world of difference in my stroke from start to finish. You don't have a choice but to do it right with these on. I highly recommend them for anyone trying to learn or improve their ability to move through the water.
I felt my freestyle stoke technique improve the very first time I used these paddles. I swam with them on for a warm up set of 10 x 100 free. Then I took them off for the rest of practice and I felt how my entry, my catch, my pull, and exit was dramatically improved. The paddle is designed to give you instant feedback. It is like swimming with a coach right at your fingertips (quite literally actually). The paddle will stick to your hand if the stroke is done correctly and your stroke will feel smooth and correct. If any part of the stroke is done incorrectly the paddle will move out of place giving you the feedback you need to correct the stroke as it happens. It's great because that way you know exactly where you are deficient in your stroke. Also, you can use them for long workouts and your shoulders won't hurt because they don't push that much water. The more you use them the more you will create the muscle memory to execute the perfect freestyle stroke without thinking about it.
The paddles force the entry of hands into the water correctly. With the fin on the bottom, if the entry is not correct you will feel the force of the water on the fin, signaling you to change your stroke so this does not occur. The paddles also help during the pull phase of freestyle, again the fin makes the difference. A last note, these paddles are just the right size for me, they do no push too much water so my shoulders ache, but just enough to make a difference
