I want to thank all the previous reviewers of this product, on which I based my decision to purchase it! It works exactly as advertised and gave me back the ability to go back to swimming again! I love to swim laps, but had to give it up because turning my head side to side to breathe made me so dizzy that it would last for days and sometimes lead to migraines. When I had to go to physical therapy for months last year (for a shoulder rehab after surgery), my therapist challenged me to find possible solutions so I could swim again. That's how I learned about a swimming snorkel. Then when I decided to "take the plunge" and buy one, I chose this one based on the description and reviews. It gave me my lap-swimming life back! It is so awesome to swim and have a way to breathe without turning my head and getting seasick. and it's very comfortable to wear, although I haven't been brave enough to try to do the flips with it yet. I am an adult woman with a smaller-than-normal mouth, but the mouthpiece on this snorkel is VERY comfortable. I also found additional swimming comfort by adding silicone ear plugs, goggles and a silicone swim cap. I also have to wear a nose plug because I can't close off my sinuses properly. Those things assist in cutting down on the changing water pressure in the ears, thus keeping equilibrium more even. And not having chlorine in the eyes and ears is good, too. The cap eases the breaking of the water, in addition to helping to keep the ears sealed. I would like not to have to swim with all this, but this snorkel makes it possible to swim at all now - - I HIGHLY recommend it!

A couple top-tier coaches had recommended the FINIS Snorkel to me. It takes a few sessions to get used to breathing and general comfort with the snorkel. But once you are comfortable, you are in business! Excellent for stroke balance, mechanics and head position. You will be able to easily do flipturns with this snorkels after a few uses. It makes a long pull set go by in a heartbeat - great for getting those additional laps in at the end of workout when you are tired. Wearing a swim cap is preferred with this snorkel for comfort on the forehead rest.

I have used the center-mount Finis snorkel for two years plus. Overall, it has been a frustrating piece of swim gear. Water started to leak in almost from the start. Lately, it has POURED in and I am forced to find an alternative. I think the problem is related to the purge valve, and I can't I figure out why Finis ever installed one in the first place. The fault has forced me to blow water out almost constantly, and that interrupts smooth breathing during my cardio swim. Although I like the front mounted design, they really should build a more water-tight snorkel for the money. I agree with the other reviewer - if you buy this snorkel, simply built a "bag" over the purge valve. Perhaps a water balloon will do the trick?
