They work. But for those of us with sensitive ears, they sometimes can hurt a bit because they go pretty far in to the ear. They are certainly an easy and inexpensive option when compared to the custom ear plugs - which I may end up getting anyway.
imposible to use...
The ear plug is slightly too long so I took the rounded end off of it even though it says not to do that. Now it works great and is the right length.
I liked the older orange speedo earplugs, and sadly, I just lost mine (left them in the shower area). All the flanges/ridges were soft on the orange ones. Anyway, So I bought 2 pair of these new clear ones. Used them for the first time today, and that first, leading ridge is hard and really hurt my ear canal. I took it out to see if it was my ear or the plug, and low and behold that first ridge is kind of sharp and hard. I'm gonna try the moldable ones next, I hope they work. I like dry ears and protection from the screaming kids that are sometimes in the shower area!
I've used sylicone ear plugs which are formable, and some may argue more comfortable, but I prefer this ear plug, which does a great job of keeping the water out of my ear and are comfortable to me. They are easy to clean after dropping them in the transtion area of a triathlon as well, where the moldable type tend to accumulate dirt easier.
I guess they work okay, i don't think i would like any brand, it bugs me to have anything in me ears, especially water. They are uncomfortable but work 90% of the time to keep water out. If you are used to earplugs, i'm sure these are great.
