I use it at the beach,and the tight fit around the ankle does not permit sand from entering
My husband loves his okespor watershoe for windsurfing and is a great product.His last shoes were the same but wore out on the wide width part where he gets in the foot straps. Maybe there is a way to keep them from blowing out on the sides with re-enforcing that area like you did the back of the shoe. Just a suggestion, otherwise they are great.
