I got the size 9 for our toddler who wears an 8 1/2 shoe at the moment.  The fit is great with room to grow to a 9. She has wide feet, and these fit well.  She loves to wear them to the pool and even in the pool.  She no longer worries about  the patio area and concrete around the pool being too hot for her feet.  They are easy for me to get on and off her.  By chance, the pink shoe color was also a good match to the Sunbusters Kauai Fitted Rash Set in pink that she wears.
