Designed for paddlers, the Xcel Women's Centrex Paddle Short keeps you comfortable and warm with neoprene technology and superior stretch.
awesome product but way off in sizing
I love this short, I need a lot of coverage because I'm allergic to the sun so I ordered this paddle short. Perfect in every way with the exception that the sizing is off. Way smaller than I expected, I ordered a large according to the sizing charts and it feels like a small/medium. Other than that I love them so much I would get another pair in a bigger size.
Fit: Feels too small

Just what I wanted
The thicker seat fabric makes paddling on the wooden seats more comfortable, and the fit was just what I thought it would be. They are exactly what I expected.
Fit: Feels true to size
Good solution for swim shorts
These are mid-weight neoprene shorts with a knit waistband with a sturdy drawstring. I ordered them in two sizes for comparison. There is not much difference between the two, though. The larger of the two is looser in the backside/upper thigh area, but the waist and leg fit pretty much the same in both. The shorts are designed for a more hourglass-shaped figure than mine (I am an apple-shaped person), so the waist on both pairs causes a depressing bulge. However, the piecing of the shorts, with no central seam, avoids the dreaded camel-toe and the seams are flat and completely chafeless. Other than the waist issue, they are comfortable for swimming and paddling and DO NOT ride up or roll on me. I will say that neoprene has *some* give but not a lot, and if you have large thighs I don't think these will make you happy. I decided to keep both pairs, since they are exactly the length I want, are pretty much tugless and are comfortable worn for long periods. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a reasonable-length, comfortable, durable, snug short that doesn't show everything you've got or bag or cling or bunch when wet, and doesn't creep into places it shouldn't when you bend over. Great for swimming, surfing, paddling and walking on the beach. I only wish it came in other colors.
I like how these shorts help keep water out (most of the time). They're short but just short enough for my liking. What I don't like about them is that they're a bit tight so consider buying one size larger.
Shorts fit true to size and are comfortable
Neoprene Shorts - keep you warm
I'm skinny and when I'm instructing in the pool (and not swimming or otherwise keeping moving) it's easy for me to get cold. These shorts keep me warm without feeling bulky. I also wear them when swimming in the ocean for that little bit of extra warmth. They're very comfortable and easy to put on and off.

These were a very nice heavy duty material but run very small so I had to return.
I thought the company size guide was way off, but I've found this to be true of most water wear.I'm about 5'1", 100 lbs. Theoretically, I would have been an XS. I tried M and S and found little difference. I went with the S since so many materials stretch in the water. The shorts are comfortable and mostly fit nicely. They do bulge where leg meets buttock. Most disappointing is the structure (or lack thereof) in the crotch. I had been encouraged by another reviewer's comment: "However, the piecing of the shorts, with no central seam, avoids the dreaded camel-toe and the seams are flat and completely chafeless."I found just the opposite to be true regarding the "dreaded camel toe." I have no special anatomy.I originally tried the shorts on with underwear and couldn't tell. But once they're worn alone they're very revealing and even more so when wet.(They do get an A for chafeless. I've worn them for lap swimming and found them comfortable.)This design of the crotch problem is so easy for a manufacturer to solve--a little padding in the right places and proper seaming. I have to wonder who designed these paddle shorts for women? Could it be a man? Or maybe it's a woman who never tried them on?Sadly, I feel I wasted the purchase price on these shorts.
This is my second Xcel product and I used both on my recent trip to Aruba. The shorts had lighter material in the front than in the back which work great when sitting on a rock or hard surface. I followed the fitting size chart. My normal size is a woman 27 inch waist and the medium fit good. I never felt constrained. Were great for wind surfing and kept me warm in the water. The design was exactly what I was looking for. I would recommend these to friends.
This is a very nice short and would be great for spending long periods of time in the water. I was unable to keep it due to being way to small. I usually wear a medium (size 6) and this large was way to small.
