  • 3/4/2014 Fit of suit changes in the water!

    rating star By Angela F.

Bought this suit for my son.  He tried it on and it appeared to fit fine.  Wore it to practice once and it bagged out in the water and chafed his legs terribly.  He can't/won't wear it again and it's not returnable as it's been worn.  He's been swimming for years and we've never had this issue before, but we usually don't buy TYR.  I would avoid this particular suit.  Although it did look nice.

  • 12/20/2013 Material is EXTEMELY stretchy

    rating star By Chris

First off let me say I am happy one of the two major us brands came up with a new design for there speedo. I was getting tired of just panels.....but this durafast material is VERY stretchy, to the point where I would get a size smaller than my usual suit size if I used this for meets. I have already worn it multiple times in practice and it feels good in practice, no noticeable drag, no suit stretchy on flip turns, so far so good.

Pros: cool design, when draw string is tightened, good fit. Easy to maintain, just rinse after use.

Cons: material is very stretchy, too the point I was thinking of sending to get a size smaller. It is my PRACTICE SUIT. If it was a race suit I would have 100% returned for a smaller suit.

  • 11/8/2014 Buy One Size Down!

    rating star By Josh

Sizing: Buy one size smaller than normal. I wear 32 and bought 32. They seemed alright until I got in the water and realized this suit got very baggy in the front and looked funny. I bought another pair in size 30 and found the fit to be perfect, and not baggy. One size smaller will not hurt or feel too small. This suit just runs large for some reason. The cut on the side is about 2.75" which is perfect. Not ugly like a square leg and not small like a thong.

Texture: I like this Durafast Elite material. The suit is double lined all the way around and is very soft. The fabric holds up well in the water and has good color. It stretches just enough. Feels good and can be worn for a long time without any pain. Not too tight at all.

Overall I would recommend this suit for the price, quality, and great design. It's colored all the way around rather than the typical black suit with boring stripe on the side. Just buy a size down. Can't go wrong with TYR either, much cheaper than Speedo.

Founded in Southern California in 1985, TYR™ has since developed a reputation for high-quality products and equipment. TYR competition swimwear and triathlon gear have been a dominant force in their respective industries. The company is also known for its TYR goggles, swim apparel, triathlon wetsuits and a wide variety of swimming equipment.

TYR was the first company to introduce a pair of goggles designed to fit a woman's face (the TYR T-72). TYR was also responsible for the famous red bathing suits featured on the hit television series "Baywatch." TYR consults with current and former athletes when developing its products. Swimmers know that TYR is a leader in swimsuits, warm-up suits, and swim training equipment. The TYR Tracer Series is one of the most advanced technical suit lines on the market. The TYR Hurricane wetsuits and the TYR Torque collections include top-of-the-line suits for the competitive swimmer.

TYR has also moved into competitive running equipment. From running shirts to shorts, its apparel is designed with the runner in mind. Built with moisture wicking fabric and antimicrobial material, TYR running apparel is designed to give the athlete the most comfortable, dry clothing on the market.

The name "TYR" is derived from the Norse god of warriors, who is said to have embodied victory and glory. Much the same can be said about the athletes who started TYR. Executive Vice President, Steve Furniss, was an Olympian who competed in the 1972 and 1976 Summer Games, and captained the 76th U.S. Olympic Swim Team.
