Measure around the widest point of your hips and buttocks.
Start at inner shoulder, come down the front of the torso and go between the legs. Continue up the back to the start of the tape on the shoulder.

I ordered a 40 hoping to have a tighter fit. To me surprise the suit was 2" large than my 45" waist. I love the suit, great for just working out. I will have to get a smaller suit for racing tho. Will order again.
