Best for long-distance runs, the Base shoe by Skora offers moderate cushioning and zero drop. This lightweight running shoe is ideal for runners who do not need extra support.
I really love the velcro closure on the Base. I thought they would make for a quick transition in triathlion, but they turned out to be so much more. I love them for biking. I love them for trail. I have worn them for road racing but tend to wear my Skora Phases for that. I love being able to feel where my foot it hitting the ground . And it is so nice to just throw them on so quickly.I have the coral version and they are a really pretty orange... these blue ones look amazing too though.I think they may run a half-size big, compared to other running shoes I own. So bear that in mind when ordering.

SKORA® is a new company with new vision and philosophy. This means that we can do things differently and are not in a position of trying to undo all the marketing and design practices that are the foundation of conventional athletic brands and products. At SKORA, we look at things differently We believe that running shoes should be built to encourage running performance that is as biomechanically correct as possible, with minimal interference. Our footwear lets people run naturally. Run Real is our philosophy and we stand by it.
SKORA was born from a personal search for a better product by Founder/CEO David Sypniewski. An avid runner, he became injured in 2001and started looking for a shoe that would not further aggravate his severe IT band issues. Traditional running footwear only seemed to make the problems worse. His search led him to the barefoot and minimalist running movement, at the time it was a small community. After taking up barefoot running with positive results, David soon looked for alternate footwear that would offer the same benefits, but provide some relief from the hot and rough asphalt of the Florida roads he ran on.
After finding nothing on the market to fit his needs, David began making his own footwear: running socks covered in latex rubber. Fast forward to 2007, and the real story of SKORA begins. As the barefoot movement begins to get some mainstream recognition, David sees an opportunity in the market to bring his vision to life. Based in Portland, Oregon, SKORA builds premium, lightweight performance running footwear that encourage a more bio-mechanically correct, natural stride. The distinctive look and feel of SKORA footwear is based on the function and benefit of a minimalist design philosophy we call Run Real.
