  • 5/18/2015 Good Shorts best for long bike rides

    rating star By Runner Brad

I purchased these to try them for my first Tri hopefully this summer. I bought them sight unseen based on good online reviews. Having run many 1/2 marathons and 1 full marathon I am a veteran runner and novice triathlete. I also bought the TYR carbon 9" as a side by side comparison. I love the Carbons! Very tight for a 35" waist in size large for the TYR's. The 226's are much more like a bike short that can be swam in and run in. If I had to ride 100 + miles these would be the ticket however, for my first olympic Tri I'm going with the lighter TYR Carbon 9" shorts which are in my opinion a better compromise short. I think I'll save the 226's for my long bike training rides. Good shorts but feel more like  light bike shorts.

  • 9/18/2014 Boxy, Chunky

    rating star By Simon M.

Not as sleek or "fast-feeling" as ORCA's other products I've used.  The bike pad is too chunky -feels like a diaper!  The fit is not that hot either -seems kinda "square-ish" and boxy.  The compression is good, but the suit design ends up looking a bit off...  The fabrics are good -but the look and fit are not sexy.

ABOUT THIS BRAND

Orca

In 1992, Scott Unsworth, a former New Zealand age-group triathlon champion, stopped competing due to a chronic back injury. Through his experience working as a swim coach, and from his first-hand experience in triathlon competition, Scott saw that the wetsuits being used by triathletes were completely inadequate for swimming, and he started a company called Performance Speedsuits Ltd.

Scott's early designs were directly inspired by his personal experience with the demands of the sport, and to this day Orca's designs and features are the direct result of working with professional athletes. In the five short years since Orca was launched in 1995 the brand was able to firmly establish itself as a favorite among the world's elite triathletes, and at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia two thirds of all triathlon competitors wore Orca Speedsuits in the swim leg of the event.

Orca products continue to be designed by and tested on athletes, not computer models, so you can be sure that the designs, materials and production techniques that go into Orca's championship-winning suits are always on the cutting edge.
