Stretchy and comfortable
In the world of board shorts, "true to size" seems to mean you should wear a size smaller than your regular pant size, if you don't want the shorts to come off when bodysurfing. By that standard, the fit is similar to other major surf brands. The O'Neill Santa Cruz stretch is a bit modest in that it doesn't have the technical features of more expensive board shorts (lack of inside seam, welded seams), but in practice it's quite comfortable and sturdy. The camouflage pattern is traditional and doesn't draw attention to itself.

Fantastic Athletic Fit.
These shorts have a slim fit which is great for swimming, and the material is soft and dries quick!
Fair stretch, good cut, great value
Fair stretch and weight, good cut, great value. Solid boardies.
The O'Neill Men's Santa Cruz Stretch Boardshort me and my son each got these boardshorts and are very pleased with them. Fit is dead on material is so soft!!. My son got camo and mine are red both very sharp looking and the fit is great, they dont bunch up or bind anywhere just lay straight and comfy. My only complaint is you have no more left in my size i would have paid full price happily for another. BTW closeout price was SPECTACULAR!! Thanks!. Me and my family will be placing more orders in the future.
Fit is good, Quality is good.

very comfortable, lightweight!
Fits true to size. Material is very comfortable and stretchy. Drys fast and water just rolls off if not submerged. Overall great shorts!!
color is awsome
I feel as they run a little big is size
Fit: Feels too big
I sent this product back. There material was thin and no lining as many swim tend have - (to the point where you could determine things you shouldn't in front :-0). That was without getting wet! Needless to say not what I was looking for in board shorts. The product seemed good otherwise. I like the style and cut of the suit. Just a bit (ahem) revealing.

Jack O'Neill began surfing in 1952, before functional surf apparel was invented. While working for the Army Air Corps, O'Neill discovered neoprene foam in a DC-3 airplane. He then combined the neoprene carpeting with duct tape to create the first neoprene wetsuit.
Demand for O'Neill's neoprene wetsuits grew rapidly and he began a business selling the O'Neill wetsuits out of his garage. By 1980, he was a leader in the beach apparel industry with a thriving business. Since then, O'Neill™ has become a widely recognized and respected brand in the surf industry, continually creating new and innovative products. In addition to O'Neill wetsuits, they carry O'Neill boardshorts, O'Neill dresses, O'Neill hats, O'Neill rash guards, O'Neill swimsuits, O'Neill water shoes, O'Neill sandals, O'Neill life jackets and O'Neill t-shirts.
In addition to his business success, O'Neill also created a non-profit foundation for kids. O'Neill developed the O'Neill Sea Odyssey Program: a free, educational cruise that introduces kids to the microbiology of the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary, beginning at Jack O'Neill's doorstep.
