Great Update to the Blade Light Run
I'm 6"2" 175 lb. triathlete with a neutral gate, mid to forefoot strike and fairly high arches. The first version of this shoe the Blade Light Run is one of my favorite shoes that I've run Half Marathons and Half Ironmans in so I was anxious to try this update. My first impression putting on this shoe is it may have the most comfortable upper I've ever worn. While running the upper is plush and comfortable with a sock like feel. While this shoe is not a racing flat it is lightweight and advertised as lighter than the previous model. During my first runs in this shoe of 5 - 8 miles they did feel light. Besides the very comfortable upper the other big change is the sole of this shoe. It has a significant increase in cushion compared to the original Blade Light Run. At first I was unsure I liked the lack of road "feedback" but 100 miles later this shoe is becoming my new favorite trainer. Because of the additional cushion without added weight I'm now considering these shoes for marathons and Iron distance triathlons. The only reason I'm not giving these shoes 5 stars is due to a small "hot spot" I developed on my left forefoot at the base of my big toe for the first few runs in this shoe. It's now gone so it may have been a break in period for the shoe. If you are a runner/triathlete looking for a light weight, cushioned and very comfortable shoe, this is it! BTW - I forgot to mention that I've raced Olympic distance tri's sock less with this shoe without any chafing!
