This Gaiam® Wisdom Eco Yoga Mat's cool, relaxing design and eco-friendly composition will put your mind at ease during your yoga workouts.
as everyone else has said, this is a great looking mat but oy, what a smell! I left it outside for a few days, then washed it, and even after that it still smells like a funky old tire. and to add insult to injury, it got caught in the washer and now has some divits it it--right on the design, of course. I''m tempted to return it, but am hoping the smell will dissapate over time. the washing is problematic, because all mats have to be laundered from time to time. I have a cannister type front loading washer, too, not an agitator, so it shouldn''t have been affected. I even put my handwash in this machine and it comes out perfectly fine. I haven''t had the slippage problem others have had, but it''s much thinner than the other, cheap mats. so, I wouldn''t recommend this mat, however, the other gaiam mat I ordered, fushia bloom printed, is fine, much thicker, but the design is very light and almost invisible. it''s too bad, really. for the price, this mat shouldn''t be so problematic. I bet a lot of people are going to return it. green or not, people don''t want to put their faces next to a stanky mat that''s too delicate to be washed without damaging it.
It''s flimsy and does move around on certain uses, but it''s fine.
I''ve been meaning to get one of these things, but never saw one I liked until now. it fits the mat perfectly and the shoulder strap is great for carrying it, esp if your arms are full or you have other bags to carry. it''s also pretty, true to the dark blue color on the photo, with some fine contrasting light blue embroidery, and made out of sturdy-looking canvas, so it seems as though it will hold up to multiple washings. if you have to lug your mat back and forth, esp if you walk to class, it might as well be in something as beautiful as this bag. because of the size of a yoga mat, it doesn''t fit in any other type of bag and doesn''t pack well in suitcases. a yoga mat bag definitely beats the rubber bands I used to use, which broke regularly, causing my mat to unroll onto the ground on my way to and from class. definitely classier to carry it in its own little custom bag.
