use for communications device for search & rescue, event traffic, along with always have it when walking, biking, kayaking, hiking, or any other activity that I might need to use for emergency commications or to get emergency assistance.  Already had 2, but wanted to keep one with each type of gear so I wasn't always wondering what I had last used it for.  Now I have enough to just keep one with my gear for any activity.

I purchased this whistle along with a Fox40 Classic to use for lifeguarding. While they are both very loud when blown properly (you have to put a lot of air behind it) I think the Sharx barely edges out the Classic in performance.

This whistle, in comparison to the Classic, requires a little bit less air to make a noise, meaning you don't have to blow as hard to get someone's attention.

The only downside to this whistle is that its shape is not as friendly for keeping in your mouth as a classic whistle. Still very much do-able, but not as comfortable. Oh, and maybe it's just a little too loud.

A great whistle. Works very effectively and will get just about anyone's attention. The whistle itself was a little larger than anticipated but not really a deal breaker.

Fox 40
In 1987, Ron Foxcroft introduced his revolutionary pealess whistle at the Pan American Games in Indianapolis. Working as a basketball referee at the time, he had seen his fair share of many unforeseeable incidents involving faulty pea whistles. During the gold medal game at the Montreal Olympics, an embarrassing incident occurred where Foxcroft blew a whistle and nothing happened. Determined to never face that sort of humiliation again, Foxcraft came up with a faultless whistle that wouldn't jam or fail. His new world famous whistle was blown for the first time at the Pan American Games where it set the tone for all referees. Athletes, police, fire, rescue workers, lifeguards, crossing guards, boaters and individuals all rely on Fox40 whistles to get your attention. Trust Fox40, the leader in whistle technology to keep you safe in all intense situations.
