    Feels too small

I have been looking for a pair of tri shorts that have enough padding to ride 112 miles.  I swam and then rode 95 miles in these the other day and, while they won't be my new favorite long-distance short, they were much more comfortable for that distance than other tri shorts I have tried, and I plan to wear them for my race in a couple weeks.  The pad did not absorb water on the swim.  Definitely order one size larger unless you want them super-tight.  And, the side panels seem to be see-through, but my riding partners tell me that they really don't look see-through.

Great quality.  Slimming look. Non sausage looking leg openings!  Great padding.

    Feels too small

But beware - these fit super tight.  DeSoto says that proper compression gear should take up to a full minute to carefully inch on, and these do.  I am 5"8 145lbs and originally bought the L (which should have worked, based on my measurements) but they were uncomfortable if I was even a little bloated, so I bought the XL.  I love the pad on these - just enough padding, but not so much that you feel like you're wearing a diaper.  I also like that the chamois extends a bit down your thigh so your sit bones are completely covered, reducing any chance of chaffing.  These are the best tri OR bike shorts I've owned because they seem to get more comfortable as the ride goes on, and I've done multiple 100+ rides plus brick runs in them.

    Feels too small

I bought this short for long distance cycling training for Ironman, I could only wear once they were soooo tight and I followed the sizing guide. I was very uncomfortable for the ride. The shorts are very well made and I really liked them but they run very small. I am giving them to my much smaller daughter-in-law. Would like to get another pair but at that price......I don't know.

    Feels too small

The sizing is super small. I always wear a size 4 or small. DeSoto's sizing chart has me in a Medium, waist 28", 5"4", 123lbs. I could hardly pull the shorts up, I thought I was going to snap the elastic. Way too small. I think these shorts are made for ladies like the one that wrote the 5 star review, skinny :).

    Feels true to size

LOVE IT! it has compression and it feels good on the bike. Haven't use it for swimming tough. One thing that I noticed is that is not good for running, it can get uncomfortable, not too annoying but a little bit of discomfort. But for the bicycle is great! One of the best I've had. I'm 5"6, 116. waist 26, hip 35.5.

ABOUT THIS BRAND

DeSoto

The founders of DeSoto are Emilio De Soto and Dan Neyenhuis. Emilio De Soto is a triathlete who is racing in his 27th consecutive season of triathlon competition. He is also fully immersed in his athletic lifestyle as a fitness trainer and coach. Dan Neyenhuis is an age-grouper triathlete who has been helicopter skiing for 20 years. Together, they created a company that designs cutting edge triathlon gear for triathletes, by triathletes.

DeSoto gear is designed to enhance performance in each leg of the race. The founders created the first mesh running cap, zippered tri tops, pocketed tri shorts, transition packs, tri suits, and tri shorts with discreet pads for cycling.

One of their other achievements was creating the DeSoto T1 triathlon wetsuit that is two pieces instead of one. The DeSoto T1 triathlon wetsuit was designed to make a better fit for triathletes, and each year, more DeSoto tri tops and DeSoto tri shorts are being added to the line. DeSoto is still the only company in the world that makes a two-piece triathlon wetsuit.
