High quality fabrics

When it comes to protecting your little one's skin from the sun, not all fabrics are made equal. In fact, most cotton t-shirts and hats are only equivalent to SPF5 sunscreen. Of course, this factor can be increased by dressing them in darker clothes with long sleeves and tighter weaves - but these aren't exactly the most comfortable clothes for your child to be wearing to the beach or by the pool. that's why we stock a huge range of UPF clothing with w rating of 50+. This means that your child will be protected from over 98% of the sun's UVA and UVB rays!

Rash guards in every shape and size

Rash guards are a popular choice for surfing and water sports because they fit close to the skin, making them a comfortable choice for surf lessons, paddle boarding and sailing. We offer a broad variety of rash guards that are sure to suit every occasion. From long sleeve rash guards that ensure as much of your child's skin is protected from the sun as possible. To sleeveless options that allow for maximum movement - ideal if they are attending a surfing competition where they don't want to be restricted.

Do I still need to wear SPF with UPF clothing?

UPF clothing will protect the skin that it is covering, but that usually does not cover the hands and neck. Make sure any exposed areas are covered in sunscreen before heading out into the sun, and it doesn't hurt to wear sunscreen underneath your UPF clothing either. The more protection you have against the sun's radiation, the less you can expect to end up with sun damaged skin at the end of a long day.

Which fabrics protect you most from the sun?

As a general rule, fabrics that are dark in color, have a tight weave, and feel thick make for the best sun protection out of everyday materials. Polyester is also a great choice as it reflects the sun's harmful UVA and UVB rays away from the body. However, for maximum protection it's best to opt for clothing that has a UPF rating of 50+, as this blocks out over 98% of the sun's harmful radiation.
