For a guy who’s won 22 Olympics medals and set numerous world records in his career, you’d think it would take quite a big event to get Michael Phelps excited. Not so when it comes to the launch of his newMP line of swim suits and accessories later this spring.Read More
“I can’t tell you how excited I am for these products,” said Phelps earlier this month at Loyola College pool, his smile beaming ear to ear. “To be part of the development team and creation of a new line of gear has been incredibly exciting for me and I’m really proud of the products coming out.”
Arena launched its new Carbon Air tech suit in early February, adding a third suit to the popular Arena Powerskin Carbon series. And this week, SwimOutlet.com just launched our Arena instant savings promotion that gets you $50 (women) or $30 (men) off on an Arena Carbon Pro or Carbon Flex tech suit with a qualifying purchase of an Arena training suit. So we thought this would be a great time to speak with Arena’s Product Line Manager Debra Talbert about their full tech suit line and other performance products for 2015!
SwimOutlet.com Blog: Arena now features several different product offerings within the Carbon line, what was the idea behind the new Carbon Air debuting this month? And tell us a little about the Carbon WCE, as well…Read More
By Zach Kent, @iSwimWithIssues
Hey swimmers, Zach Kent here from @iSwimWithIssues! This is my very first review and I have the pleasure of reviewing some of my favorite items—Waterproof MP3 players. It’s often difficult to mindlessly swim for hours on end listening solely to the “swoosh” of the water. Don’t get me wrong, I love that sound, but sometimes a little music can help you go a long way. Oh, and it’s also useful for those times when you want tune out your coach. (I’m not suggesting doing that—it will only end with a long butterfly set.)
Below are the MP3’s that I have had the pleasure of testing out, with my favorite Waterproof MP3’s towards the top. Understand that a waterproof MP3 might vary based on your stroke and what preference you may have towards placement of the MP3, so I recommend reading all of the reviews to see which one is the best pick for you. All of these are great options but there might be some things in particular that suit your needs.Read More

Swimming with a snorkel can be very beneficial to pool and open water swimmers of all ages and abilities, as well as triathletes. SwimOutlet.com has quite a few different snorkel options and products to choose from.
In order to help you hone in on the right snorkel for your holiday shopping, I have reviewed five different brands and they have all left me with very little air to train!
The three major benefits of training with a snorkel are: 1) an increased lung capacity; 2) an improved technique with the ability to monitor your own strokes and; 3) being able to enjoy the underwater view for extended periods of time.Read More
In the era before Michael Phelps, there was Matt Biondi. Biondi is one of the most successful and decorated swimmers in Olympic history. By the time he retired, Biondi won eleven Olympic medals and competed in three Olympic games (1984, 1988, 1992). At the 1988 Seoul Olympics, Biondi turned in one of the greatest performances the world had ever seen. He broke four World Records and won seven Olympic medals: five gold, one silver and one bronze.
Biondi’s optimism and drive for success are as equally well known as his Olympic feats. After retiring from swimming, Biondi has continued to inspire others as a teacher and swim coach and instills the same drive for success that helped him becom one of the most dominant competitors in the sport. At the 2014 USMS Marriott National Championships, Biondi returned to the competitive arena and swam in his first meet since retiring from swimming. He swam the 50 and 100 free, posting times of 21.48 and 46.83, respectively.
In true Biondi fashion, his comment afterwards was simply, “I can go faster.” For Biondi, he has always focused on what he calls his “Five Pillars of Success,” which we wanted to break down for you. These have become staples of his clinic and club appearances.Read More
So, you've decided to take the plunge in the pool—literally! When you jump in head first to the world of swimming, you will want to build your “swim kit,” as we like to call it. In addition to the obvious, your swimsuit, you might be curious about what swim gear you will need. Thankfully, we’re here to help the beginners and the advanced swimmers alike. Below is a list of the equipment you will want to consider before diving into the sport for the first time.
First and foremost, swim goggles are essentially a must-have for a swimmer at any level. Nobody wants to swim with water flooding their eyes, trust us! Generally, a beginning swimmer will want superior suction around the eye with a comfortable, soft seal. We recommend checking out the Speedo Vanquisher Goggle. The Vanquisher has come to be one of the most well-known goggles in the swimming world because of its durability and comfortable design.
A 2012 Olympian in the 1500m freestyle, Connor Jaeger shares his thoughts of the recent Santa Clara Grand Prix, his approach to setting goals, maintaining swim-life balance and even some recent workouts done in the pool with our exclusive Fitter & Faster Swim Tour presented by SwimOutlet.com Q&A!
And don’t forget to enter the contest to win a “Swim Like a Champion” DVD by telling us your favorite dryland training exercise in the comments below by July 11.

1) We all know getting in the pool can be a struggle some days, what keeps you motivated on days like this?
I will be the first to admit how hard getting up for those 5:30 morning workouts can be but thinking about my competition and if they are working hard that morning always gets me motivated to make sure I am not losing out on any training time. It helps that I always end up having fun with my teammates once I am at workout and any of that initial desire not to go is quickly forgotten when we are laughing during warmup.
2) What does the inside of your swim bag look like- do you have a favorite practice suit, type of goggle, or training accessory?Read More
I really really love my arena challenge back suit, I wear them every single day at workout and they’re super comfortable and flattering. As far as equipment goes I cannot do without my kickboard. Kicking is a huge part of my stroke so I spend a lot of quality time with my board doing kick sets. I also am getting really into yoga so at a meet you can often see me with my yoga block stretching out before warmup.
The latest installment of our series about training features Arena athlete Claire Donahue, who is also a regular on the Fitter & Faster Tour Presented by SwimOutlet.com and appears in the Swim Like a Champion DVD series.
Leave a question or comment for Claire below, and you will be entered to win the Swim Like a Champion – Butterfly DVD featuring Claire.

1.) We all know long training sessions are not always the most glamorous, what is the thing you love about training most and what’s your least favorite?
I don’t know many people who enjoy anything about practice (haha). But I love the feeling you get after having a really good practice and you’re really pumped about practicing the next day. You can’t wait to get to the pool and have an even better practice. I also like the feeling of getting stronger and better each day I practice. There is always something to work on. On the other hand, my least favorite thing about practice is waking up Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 5:30 am. It’s tough but you know it’s for the best. Getting up and actually going to practice and actually jumping in the freezing cold pool is another one of my least favorite things. But once you’re actually there and swimming, it’s not bad.Read More

Arena Waiving FINA-Approval on the Global Market Supply of POWERSKIN Carbon Pro Technical Suits, Offering Replacement with New Generation Carbon-Pro Mark 2
UPDATE (7/22): The new FINA-approved Arena Powerskin Carbon Pro MK2 has arrived in stock and is now available for purchase in limited quantities for both men and women.
To order women's Carbon Pro MK2
To order men's Carbon Pro MK2
Arena announced on Monday May 6, 2013, that it was waiving FINA-approval from all Arena POWERSKIN Carbon Pro suits, even those produced and sold prior to 2012.
Arena Powerskin Carbon Pro Full Body Short Leg Closed Back (AR220994)
Arena Powerskin Carbon Pro Full Body Short Leg Open Back (AR220993)
Arena Powerskin Carbon Pro Jammer (AR141364)
Arena has stated suit problems arised due to manufacturing irregularities which caused an unintended - and unexpected - reduction of the permeability to air of some of the racing suits produced between the end of 2012 and the beginning of 2013. While only part of their production has been affected, FINA is withdrawing the approval codes for all Carbon Pro models at Arena's request.
We realize this is a major announcement and unfortunate to current owners of the suit, as the Arena Carbon Pro is considered to be one of the most popular technical suits for competitive swimmers on the market. As testament to Arena's unwavering commitment to its athletes and customers, Arena will provide a new generation, Carbon-Pro Mark 2 as an exchange to any customer with a current model Carbon Pro suit with proof of purchase.
We will provide a replacement suit (FINA-approved POWERSKIN Carbon-Pro Mark 2) to all customers who have purchased Arena Carbon Pro suits from us in the past. Arena has alerted us that replacements suits will be available to the global market around the July 2013 time frame. We have already alerted current purchasers of this suit about this time frame in case they have any important competitive swim meets planned before that time period.Read More
