An elite-level trail runner and triathlete, Jonathan Toker, Ph.D., was tired of taping electrolyte capsules on his bike tube top. In 2002, he came up with the original concept for an electrolyte capsule dispenser as part of his own professional triathlon needs. After 4 years and the contributions of a San Diego machine shop and other professional triathlete testers, SaltStick was created.
Saltstick Caps were developed as a study of scientific literature on electrolyte loss in sweat, highly bioavailable ingredients, and field testing. SaltStick Caps have since become the accepted standard for electrolyte replacement capsules.
