In 1971, students Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley founded Marmot, a glacier-climbing club of University of California Santa Cruz. As part of their passion for the wintry outdoors, Reynolds and Huntley then began creating prototype down products in their dorm room. By 1974, climber Tom Boyce had joined the team; the threesome rented out an ancient ex-grocery store, and Marmot the brand was officially born.
Since then, Marmot has been making high quality apparel, often constructed from performance fabrics such as Gore-Tex. Some sleeping bags have been personally tested in frozen meat lockers and beneath fire sprinklers. Featuring a diverse collection of hardcore parkas, casual hiking pants, and everyday flannels, Marmot will gear you for wilderness adventures and walks in the park. The brand has even been in the movies, their puffy Golden Mantle jackets starring in The Eiger Sanction opposite of Clint Eastwood.
Much has changed since the company's humble beginnings, but their dedication to the outdoors and product quality remains steadfast. Seek out Marmot for your outdoor apparel needs.
